A look inside the world of venture capital, private equity, and hedge funds from the investor’s perspective

Living in Silicon Valley, our news is dominated by the fruits of venture capitalists' labor:  the breakout technologies, skyrocketing valuations, and larger-than-life entrepreneurial personalities.

But those are just the icing on the underlying economic cake of the alternative investing industry, which continues to grow rapidly despite the current recession. Laura Roden, Founder & Managing Director, VC Privé LLC, our speaker on Tuesday, October 18, will share insights into the little known alternative asset business model: how funds are structured, which segments are booming and busting, how risk and return are related, and some key trends and red flags to look out for. Read more about the speaker.

Message from the President

What does it take to keep an organization like the Financial Planning Forum thriving for 39 years?  The answer is simple: a diverse, committed and active membership!

In 1972, the Forum was founded by a group of like-minded financial professionals who shared an interest in providing quality services to their clients.  Over the years, many have added to the success of the Forum, with their resources, professional acumen, distinctive skills and creative leadership.

We look forward to building on the success of the past by providing optimal opportunities for members to be involved.  Priorities for 2011-2012 include a focus on expanding membership and strengthening our commitment to providing quality programming and frequent networking opportunities.  Our active Committees, which once again are being formed for this year, bring new opportunities for all members.

The vitality and commitment of our members will lead the Forum into its 40th year with great achievement and accomplishment.  We are looking forward to a great year!

Sincerely,
David Sacarelos
President, Board of Directors
